World Atlas of Coffee + 3 Coffee Selection Gift (Steampunk x Mainstreet Collaboration)

This Autumn we partnered with the Mainstreet Trading Company in St Boswells for an exciting new project celebrating our mutual love of books, coffee, and events. We think it’s so important to educate ourselves about the world we live in and the impact of our consumption, whether that means taking a closer look at the coffee supply chain or doing our bit to promote greater diversity in publishing. We love our communities and know many of you are passionate about the same issues, so we’ve created the STEAMPUNK X MAINSTREET Book Club. 

This Christmas we are joining forces to offer the ultimate COFFEE + BOOK Christmas gift. James Hoffman's World Atlas of Coffee has become the essential reference book for any coffee lover's library since it was first published in 2014. A second edition (updated and covering more origins) has just been released and we are offering this along with a selection pack of three different coffees from Steampunk. Because this is a collaborative project, this Christmas Gift set may be purchased either through ourselves here or via Mainstreet Trading's website.

- The World Atlas of Coffee: From beans to brewing, coffees explored, explained and enjoyed by James Hoffmann (founder of Square Mile Coffee Roasters, London)

- 3 x 100g Steampunk Coffees from different origins around the world (they will be different from those pictured as they will be our fresh coffees for December).

Where coffee comes from, how it was harvested, the roasting process and the water used to make the brew are just a few of the factors that influence the taste of what we drink.  World champion barista, and coffee roaster, James Hoffmann examines these key factors, looking at varieties of coffee, the influence of terroir, how it is harvested and processed, the roasting methods used, through to the way in which the beans are brewed.

Country by country - from Bolivia to Zambia - he then identifies key characteristics and the methods that determine the quality of that country's output.  Along the way we learn about everything from the development of the espresso machine, to why strength guides on supermarket coffee are really not good news.  This is the first book to chart the coffee production of over 35 countries, encompassing knowledge never previously published outside the coffee industry.  For everyone who wants to understand more about coffee and its wonderful nuances and possibilities, this is the book to have.

We will select for you three of our fresh seasonal coffees that we are roasting in December. They will be packaged in our plastic free Steampunk packaging and include cards sharing information about their provenance, tasting notes and brewing guide.
