We love to explore the full delicious spectrum of flavours specialty coffee has to offer, but we also know there’s a time and a place for a mug of something easy and familiar. This is a seasonal, single-origin fully traceable Brazil with an easy drinking profile: nutty, chocolatey, mellow, sweet and full bodied. It’ll be an easy dial-in and a crowd pleaser with or without milk.

Our Brazil is only available in the great value 1kg size or as a subscription. If you want little and often you can get our Basecamp Subscription HEREAvailable as whole bean only.

Tasting Notes: A sweet, comforting hit of milk chocolate with notes of creamy hazelnut. Think of Maltesers and chocolate covered raisins.

This regional Brazilian lot is a clean, sweet coffee that’s delicious brewed as an espresso but is a solid choice for your morning coffee whatever brew method you use. Adding milk will heighten all its best attributes, making it even more creamy and sweet.

Grown in the Mantiqueira mountains near the city of Natércia in southern Brazil, this coffee came from five producers including Ronaldo Lucas da Silva and was processed on his farm, Fazenda Pedrão. The region has a microclimate perfect for excellent coffee production with ideal elevation, temperatures and seasonal rainfall.

Ronaldo Lucas da Silva, began his journey with coffee cultivation in the year 2000, when he married the granddaughter of the owner of Fazenda Pedrão. The property was originally purchased by the family in 1984 and already had a small plantation that they carefully managed to foster its growth. The marriage marked the start of a new cycle of coffee planting.

In 2021, with the plantation renewed, Ronaldo started planting a new coffee variety, Arara. Today, the farm has more than 20,000 trees of this variety alone. The other varieties grown on the farm include Red and Yellow Catuaí and Mundo Novo. The trees receive special care and regular visits from agronomists who closely monitor the health of the plantation.

At Steampunk, Yellow and Red Catuai are the varieties we most often gravitate toward when we’re cupping Brazilian coffees. We love their clean flavour profiles and the higher acidity relative to other Brazilian varieties. Arara is another fave that we first tried in 2021, with the second lot we bought from Fazenda Caxambu. It’s a naturally occurring hybrid that was developed by one of Brazil’s leading coffee research institutes, Fundação Procafé. First released in 2012, Arara has quickly gained in popularity because of its disease resistance and excellent cup quality.
